I often rely on photographs as references for my drawings. For me, photographs represent accuracy and evidence in our culture. I use them to recall what I see and reproduce objects as I perceive them in the world. I created these photographs using a cheap medium format 120 film camera. The low-fidelity aesthetic that this particular camera produces is reminiscent of the abstract quality of much of my hand-drawn work. These images are meant to be viewed as quick, observational "sketches" of the subjects that I depict in my work.
